Yeah, I’ve been mulling this over in my mind. On the one hand I want to move on and be done, on the other the value is frozen in time so...

But, the car we are looking at to replace it isn’t even on lots yet so it makes sense to wait at least until 2017

Certainly, it is reassuring to know that I will not take any further depreciation hit from driving the car, and I’m also on track to return it with under 25k on the odo, thus maximizing how much money I will get back.

I guess the one downside would be that I’d be DD’ing my 7.3 until I find the right car..

Personally, I’d like them off the roads (or fixed) much sooner than later. But I don’t own one, and I could hardly blame a duped owner for squeezing the maximum money out of the transaction. And it’s not as if they walked out to a different car in the drive the day after the story came out. It’s the car they chose.

The trouble I have is that I can’t even shop for a new car until I know roughly when I will be able to sell it back. Im stuck in limbo.

The tentative date is Nov. 1st. I’m just going off of that and playing it by ear from there.

“tentative” and “up to 2 years to complete the buyback”...its a very large gap.

OK - so that’s a big Ford with 4 doors. I had to haul a horse trailer once with a shitty 70s F250 with 3 speeds and a granny gear. Second worst vehicle I’ve ever driven.

Ah, I just thought you meant from when the buyback starts. It’ll start this fall for sure.

It’s loud and rough, but I like my truck, especially for how good of a condition it’s in and how little I paid for it. I’ll make a profit on it if I ever decide to sell.

I love big diesel noises anyway.

And if you need a work truck, there are few better choices.

I didn’t need a work truck, but I did need a truck, and wanted something that will be able to tow in the future. and I didn’t want to pay a lot of money for it. It’s a bit of a project, but mostly just cosmetics.
